Standing water is one of those problems that seems minor until it isn't. Every time it rains, water pools up, the ground stays soggy, and over time that moisture starts working against your yard - and potentially your foundation. We tackled both a drainage issue and a privacy need on this one.

The dry creek bed runs along the base of the fence line, using natural stone to channel water away from the yard instead of letting it sit. It's a simple concept, but done right it makes a real difference. The rocks aren't just functional - they give the space a clean, finished look that works with the landscaping rather than fighting it.

The fence itself is a full board-on-board wood privacy fence with a double gate. The construction is solid - framed properly, set with good spacing at the base, and built to last through weather. The gate has the X-brace framing on the back side that keeps it from sagging over time. That's a detail that matters a lot five years down the road.

When you're dealing with drainage and privacy at the same time, it pays to think about how those two things interact. Running the creek bed along the fence line instead of fighting around it keeps everything looking intentional. That's the difference between a fix that works and one that looks like an afterthought.

If your yard holds water after rain or you've been putting off that fence, these are both very solvable problems. Sometimes the right solution handles more than one thing at once.
